about

Some of these tracks go back nearly three years and represent some attempts at creating a new sound. Perhaps a pointless exercise as everything always ends up just sounding like WALMARTIANS.

My longtime friend and collaborator Darin was kind enough to listen through this collection of what I considered odds and sods. The running order reflects his input, which as always is much appreciated. Very interesting to see how they all came together here.

The cover artwork is based on a photograph by friend and former colleague Helena Ehnbom who lives in Sweden. She posted a couple of years ago and I'd always wanted to use it for something. Thanks Helena!

I don't often write song notes, but here are a few:

"4 MES" is for the late Mark E. Smith. Sometimes I think I have too much by The Fall in my music collection, but then I realize that's never the case.

"Riding The Flat Line" was originally recorded for the still unreleased "Cheers" album. Some day that collection will make an appearance.

"It Was The Only Way" was inspired by the MCU and in particular Endgame.

"Beijing Dawn" and "The Mad Parade" are about the daily commute I've had when working in Beijing. That's something of course I'm not doing at the moment with the pandemic.

"Olympus," "Tangent 1.1,"Tangent 1.2," and "Volcano Rain" are all from the abandoned "Tangents" collection. For a year or so I was trying to work on music at least one hour a day. During that time I amassed quite a collection of tracks, half-finished ideas, and experiments. More of these will make an appearance here in the future.

"Alba" continues my love of Scotland, which I explored previously on "Glasgow (Kelvin Mix)," "Rannoch Moor," and "Loch Lomond." I hope to visit Scotland again some day.
